One of the most important medieval castles in the Cardona region,
Cardona Castle is located on a lovely mountain top and overlooks the town of Cardona on one side and the salt mines on the other. A visit to
Catalonia would be truly complete with a visit to this castle as it's closely linked to the prosperity and growth of the region for a very long time. Today, it's not a power center, but an important landmark of the region which allows you to connect to it's past glory.

The castle was built more than a thousand years back in 886 AD, and has undergone many changes since then. the most enduring part of the castle all these years has been the iconic tower of the castle. The architectural style of the castle is a mix of Gothic (especially in the church) and Romanesque (the tower), yet together they co-exist beautifully to give the place a very coherent feel.
