Café Abaca in Pune is one of new cafes in the uptown Koregaon Park of the city. Since I am complete sucker when it comes to coffee and so I am always up for trying out new cafés in town. So last Sunday as I flew back onto town from Ahmedabad, the first thing in my mind was coffee and decided to try out a new place :)

Yum coffee and cookies :) |
The café is basically located inside a high-end furniture and home decor shop called Abaca. It's a Mumbai based store though the idea of a cafe didn't take off there. So what we have here is an exclusive Café inside a beautiful boutique store with unique ambience and some very interesting things on the menu.

Jumana almost singlehandedly manages the entire café with support from one more person for the shop. She is also a baking expert, so what that means is that you can get freshly baked cakes and muffins there. When we visited Café Abaca, she had just put the muffins in the oven. We decided to order the coffee and waited for the muffins and it was quite something to wait with the aroma of fresh cakes filling up the entire store. When the muffins came to our table they were still piping hot and we ended up gobbling it down within a minute.
What to eat?
Coffee is good and is served with an assortment of cookies, which are again very tasty. I woyld strongly recommend trying out Jumana's cupcakes as they are made fresh and right there at the café (not a common feature in many places).
Address
The café is located right above Nature's Basket in the Lane 5 of Koregaon Park. Here is the full address:

Wow! The cafe looks good. Must try this out... There used to be a Barista somewhere in Koregaon Park, situated inside a large garden. Is it still there?
ReplyDeleteLove the colours! Sorry to have missed it on my recent trip to the city. For those cookies, I'll make time :)
ReplyDeleteYou must! I do not know about Barista unfortunately...
ReplyDeleteThanks man :)
ReplyDeleteIn such few words, you have written a delicious review. Initially I used to be a regular in Pune. Of late, I haven't been there much. But after reading your well nuanced blog-post, I am sure I shall be going back to the Culture Capital of Maharashtra, to imbibe everything that makes me feel one with the city again...
