I was in Ahmedabad recently for a wedding and managed to do some interesting street photography. Of course, it's one of my favourite cities (having lived there for almost a third of my life), and I can spend days walking through its beautiful lanes and clicking interesting people, places, food, animals...
For anyone new to the city, I would strongly recommend visiting the old city area - around Manek Chowk. Its right at the centre of the old city market; a jewellery market in the day, it transforms into a magical food-land in the night. In fact, Manek Chowk to me signifies night life of the city.
For those who love shopping or photography, the area offers tremendous opportunities. Next to the chowk is the famous 'Jumma masjid', but the place to be explored is 'Rani no Hajiro', though its mainly a market for women to shop. You can walk around and into small shops which open up into much bigger spaces inside, sometimes underground and sometimes overground. Its a beautiful magical land...
The following are the images from the area...

DeleteLovely photos. I love street photography too. I read about the House of MG night walk on your blog and went on it when I was in Ahmedabad last. Here's my write-up on my experience - http://off-the-map-mytravelogue.blogspot.in/2014/02/drum-beats-that-have-lasted-600-years.html

DeleteThank you Luis :)
ReplyDeleteLove the last one. Like you, I too am a street photography fan. Somehow, the tourist postcard kind of pictures don't really bring out the essence of India.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! I agree with you on the Street Photography part...
