So what inspires me to take a photograph? I never quite thought of it in the past. I just always knew what to capture, what moved me, what made me capture a moment. How successfully I managed to do that is another story altogether...
Here are some Street Photography shots from the streets of San Francisco.
|
Time for goodbye - there were tears, but it was such a warm moment |
|
Perhaps one of the most intense and powerful poster I saw during the walk |
|
I just like how the composition looked here |
|
Another goodbye, another hug... |
Today when Toan talked before the walk, I decided to think after a
take a picture on why I did, what I did. It was just an experiment, but
it kept me really engrossed after capturing a few of the moments. Also, for the
first time I spoke to a few people I clicked; and it felt really good.
So
what inspires me? Ah...it was rather simple.
Its the smiles and the
tears that inspire me; intense emotions inspire me.
When people laugh,
share a hug, or walk holding hands, I am inspired to capture the moment.
Such shots stay with me, I remember them much much later as well.
Apart from that I always take pictures of compositions which look good to the eye, I call these eye candies - these shots can be people, buildings, dogs, benches or anything that I fancy at that point of time.

Women being women, having a laugh after a great shopping session :) |
|
Always fun to capture! |
|
An amazing couple I had a long chat with, she played the drum for me on the street, and her smile was addictive :) |
I am sharing a few images here from today's
GIG
walk in San Francisco. It was a walk through some of the most inspiring
neighborhood in SF, with some really interesting people. I missed most
group photos, including the final one at the Dolores Park, as I was
often too captivated with all the events around me.
But
Jagdish, Saumya and me did get an opportunity to share some really good
Mexican food with Toan and a few of his friends. It was great to hear
him talk about his inspiration and his vision for GoInspireGo.

Just a couple on the sidewalk... |

Again, just like the reflection... |
|
Mother and child, just so beautiful... |
|
Discussing food with mom :) |
So what is
Go Inspire Go?
It is a multimedia platform that "Uses Social
Networking to Inspire Social Change" encouraging viewers like you to
"Use Their Powers -- Resources, Talents and Network -- to Help Others."
Its a medium to share the inspiring stories from your life or life around you to inspire others. Its an initiative to create a positive social change through an individual's drive.

DeleteYes such moments are worth capturing...your words "the smiles the tears" remind me of a poem i remember since my school days...i will not bore you with the whole of it but 4 lines are---
ReplyDeleteThe smiles,the tears,of boyhood's years;
The words of love then spoken,
The eyes that shone,now dimmed & gone;
The cheerful hearts now broken.
Thanks Indu so much for these beautiful lines...and trust me I won't be bored with the entire poem also :) These words are amazing...

DeleteEach picture has such a unique feeling to it. Makes me feel like I have sometime or the other either lived these moments or been related to them. Who isn't inspired by intense emotions? :-) I think we all are. How we execute the influence of those intense emotions is however variable.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your pictures made me miss San Francisco so much. :-) There is no particular landmark in your pictures still.
If you ever come to the East Coast, do let me know. I would love to meet you.
Thanks Komal, thank you so much for such a nice comment :) I try to get the character of a city without overt use of some landmarks...not quite sure if it works well...
DeleteSure I would love to catch up with you on the East Coast, and I will surely come there. I will certainly let you know, any SF plans for you?
You are welcome. :-) That's what I meant to say - without seeing a single SF landmark, you induced SF nostalgia in me. That says something about the eye behind the camera! :-)
ReplyDeleteNot anytime soon. I go to NYC a lot, but SF is sort of far. And I don't have a long enough break from school that would allow me to travel as far as SF from Boston. :-(
In that case, thanks once again :) I guess even I would come to NYC, not sure when though...perhaps June, will surely let you know!
DeleteYou can always write to me at komalali92@gmail.com
DeleteI won't be in the United States this summer. :-( If you come some other time, do let me know. :-) Take care.
I loved watching people in SF... so many interesting characters walking around town! :-)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, its one of the best places to watch people :)
DeleteThere's so much heart n'soul in these images of yours. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot D, I am glad that you liked the pictures :) Your feedback is very encouraging!
DeleteHola Sidhartha, hace unos dias has visitado mi blog. Ahora estoy echando un vistazo al tuyo. Lo que veo, me gusta.
ReplyDeleteEsta serie de retratos, sencillos en su forma, provocan emociones, y eso no es facil. Enhorabuena.
Un saludo
Thanks a lot Luz, I am glad you liked the portraits here...
