Koteshwar Mahadev temple is located on the extreme edge of India, in the
Kutch region of Gujarat. Its the westernmost
Shiva temple in the country.

I had no clue that the temple existed and the visit to the temple was more of a detour as our companion was a devotee and wanted to visit the temple, and we, of course, gladly agreed. It was one new place and I was more than happy to comply.

I had expected it to be an old looking place, as it was described to me as
pracheen (ancient). The temple looks very new and is very well kept. There are a number of shops just before the steps leading up with all provisions for travelers and devotees. You can buy food, bottled water, cold-drinks as well as supplies for the prayer in the temple here.

The see looks really nice from the temple, according to some we can see
Kori Creek also from here on a good day. The contentious Sir Creek is also close by; the small landmass is another Kashmir between India and Pakistan with both claiming it to be their own.

Looks to be a temple worth taking a detour..!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice, especially the whole landscape and the sea as the background. But its hard to reach, and maybe not exactly unmissable unless you are on a road close-by.
